As far as I'm concerned, it lived up to the hype
|
I played Modern Warfare 1, and didn't really think too much of it. Sure, it was fun. If I rated it, I'd probably give it a 4 or 5. But, once I was done with the campaign, I was done. I didn't have an urge to play it again. Also, I don't getting killed by tweens every 4 seconds, so I didn't play it online.
I borrowed it, played it, returned it.
I really didn't understand all of the hype about MW2. Was the first one that good that people care that much about a sequel, or was it just very successful marketing?
I suppose it doesn't matter. The result is that I thorough enjoyed MW2, and will very likely play it again.
I've noticed that I've mostly breezed through the last few games I played. Uncharted 1 was harder than Uncharted 2, but for the most part, I don't really get that stuck on any part for too long. With that in mind, I stepped up and put MW2 on the hard level. I did get stuck a few times, but overcame it by sheer will and patience. One example that stands out is trying to make it into the capital building. You have to run from one crater to another and not get killed along the way... that seems like mostly luck. What can you to avoid getting killed? You can pick off a bunch of bad guys, but they just get replaced. Am I missing a method? For that particular part, where does skill come in?
Pardon me. I got sidetracked. Anyway, I played it on hard. Even when the training level said "you should not play hard", I played it anyway. Now, I'm thinking about playing it again on whatever the maximum difficulty is. Therein may be my demise. (I played Halo 3 on legendary; made it most of the way through, but stopped playing one day and didn't go back.)
The closing credits of the game are really neat. It looks like a film crew in a museum; the displays are different scenes from the game, but it starts off as alive. As the camera moves away, the characters digress to mannequins. It's pretty clever and artistic.
The SPEC OPS stuff is kind of fun. I'll probably be able to beat most of them, although I don't think I'll be able to achieve 3 stars on most of them (unless I lower the difficulty level).
The campaign may be short; It sort of felt that way, but I'm not sure. Regardless, it was a lot of fun and visually pleasing. When I got my XBOX 360 and Call of Duty 2? (whatever the first 360 one was), I was overwhelmed; there was so much going on it was exhausting. This one gave the ame impression.
